I have Scripps 4-60 marine engine. Basic engine has been manufactored by Hercules Engine Company.
Scripps has 134 cubic" (3 1/4 x 4),60 hp, 3200 r/min and weight is 181 kg. Manufactoring day is 1955.01.27 (number are in cast body). Brass type-label in engine have mystical Code YCLMB (??), serie no is 55028.
It seems that Chris-Craft has used same Hercules engine in Chris-Craft's four cylinder sidevalve engine also.
I don't have originell generator (drive-systems is by gearwheel, C-C has used V-belt like cars), I believe that is Autolite. Other missing parts is manifold (Chris-Craft is also compatible) + carburetor (Zenith I suppose). Also I don't know that what is corresponding Hercules car engine type.
Do You know any firm or "serious old marine engine fan" that might have that kind parts (new or secondhand) in store. I am also interesting in to get more tehcnical information of my Scripps engine.

The closest herk engine is the IXB 3sl,but i don't know if it is the same engine. The old ones have base mount mags, newer ones have flange mags on the other side or distributors.Normally a herk IXB would have an IX in line with the date you show.

Hi!! Have nice Xmas
I still missing that Autolite generator to my Scripps-engine, also is needed manifold + carburetor + airfilter (Chris-Craft 4 cyl 60 hp is suitable for that engine). Give advice by email or message, if you know firm/persons who might have its in storage, my small daycruiser will need it quite soon.

What condition are they in?

Why are they coming out?
