Help with engine ID

I ran across a discarded engine and I'm trying to identify it. Chrysler Marine flathead 6, cast iron "log" intake on the left side (opposite of car version). Updraft carburetor. Valve adjustment access plates on left side.

Sorry if this is too new for the group - but in autos the updraft carbs went out in the 1930's on these.

Marine engines used updraft carbs till the 1960s.
Post some photos. Usually has a brass tag hidden on the rear motor mount. If it is still there post the numbers.

It sounds like either a Chrysler "Ace" (95 hp - I don't remember the CID), or a Chrysler "Crown" (125hp, 265 CID). These were both marinized versions of Chrysler automotive engines.

Both the Ace and the Crown were in production from the 1930's until almost 1960 (at least 1957 for the Crown, .... -- I have a pair of them in a boat of mine)

That engine would not be "unwelcome" here. There is some desirability in it. Probably not so much from a collectability standpoint as much as someone wanting it to repower a boat.

The Crown, depending on the reverse and reduction gear is a 900 pound engine.
