I have been rebuilding a Jr.4 and I need some help. Everything has been put back but the one problem Im face with is the oil filter. I have the oil filter itself but none of the lines that would take oil from the block to the filter and return it to the oil gauge and back to the block. If anyone can give me help on this subject that would be great or even a picture of the Buchanan Jr.4 I think it is built around 1950-52

James, I have one Junior 4 to rebuild and another NOS one to assemble and I would be interested in any photos of yours. As it was based on a Hercules IXB block, perhaps the information you need could be found in an IXB service manual. I believe Andrew sells these elsewhere on-site, so to speak(?)

On the IXB's that i have the oil preasure guage is one line T'ed into the line that go's to the inlet of the filter. The filter needs to be correct or too much oil can flow through it and the engine will get low preasure.I better look at the one in the barn before i add more.

Well the preasure line comes out of the engine by the dip stick,on the non carb side.a few inches up there is a T and one line goes to the gauge. The other line goes to the bottem center of the filter. The only other line is the return from the top outside of the filter to the carb side of the engine block. You should have a wastpack filter, the ones made of thin paper allow too much oil to flow without goeing through the engine.

Olarry, Thanks for your message I was wondering if you would be able to send me a pic of your engine showing the oil filter set up.
Thank you

No i can't handle pictures. The responce above is for the canister filter. Some IXB's were sold with the michigana filter which is a screw on type.the pipeing is the same only both pipes connect on the side of the base.
