Here's a pic of "PUD", a boat that I have recently acquired. She was built on Mayne Island BC in the mid 1930s. She's 17ft long. At present she has no motor and I am in a dilemma as to what I should power her with. I'm not sure what her original engine would have been but I'm guessing that it was probably a small diesel. I have the original drive shaft however the bore through which it ran has been plugged. The engine sat inside of the pilothouse. Anyone have any ideas as to what kind of engine I should use? I've also thought that I might mount the engine aft with a saildrive type unit (would that be sacreligous?) PUD

There was a yanmar diesel in the classifieds, doesn't list horsepower but it may be something you could use and still get parts for.
