I've got all the nuts and bolts loose but there is a oil supply pipe that is keeping me from lifting the head off the cylinder block. It's #17 on the following diagram : http://www.marinepartseurope.com/en/volvo-penta-explodedview-7742090-21-13745.as px

The pipe goes down through the head, through the cylinder block and does not have reasonable access to remove.

Has anybody done this ? Do the studs need to be removed so the head can be rotated without lifting. ?

I was instructed to bend the copper supply line just enough to lift the head off. I was very apprehensive to do this, but it was fairly easy to do. Doesn't take much of a straightening to get the head off, then re-bend it back after replacing. I also if i recall removed three of the studs, but i was working in very close quarters..maybe be able to remove head with one of two studs removed.

Like Mercator said carefully bend the supply line and remove the head. I've done it many times without problem.

Having trouble removing the injectors In a md2. I removed the nuts and holding plate but it will not budge. I have broken many things in my life and do not want to force it. It does not unscrew does it? Heading to Napa to see what kind of puller might work. Any suggestions.

Apply Kroil and tap lightly. Might have to let it sit and repeat for a few days.

It does not unscrew and there is no puller that I know of.

I don't know what the top of the injector looks like but i have welded a metric nut that fits the pressure line to a 5/8 nf nut and used a slide hammer to pull it out.

Last resort. If it is not an emergency take the slow and easy way.

It will work...eventually.

Instead of Koil, try 1 part acetone and one part automatic steering fluid ( ATF). Someplace( Practical Sailor ?) a comparison was done on WD-40, Kroil and this mixture. The mixture did better on releasing rusted objects than Kroil and 50% better than WD-40. ( better was defined as required torque to release.

Bottom line though is listen to Matt.

Hi - M2DB not my regular work, but longish injectors often tight particularly on marine jobs.. Usually need to build or borrow puller or slide hammer if damage is to be avoided. Needs to be a quality job to avoid damage as I suspect parts are all out of production. Can a slide hammer be welded to a spare cap nut and screwed in? http://www.marinepartseurope.com/en/volvo-penta-explodedview-7742090-23-13776.as px

Looking at that exploded view reminded me that I used a small crowbar to gently lift the injector.

When you put it back in be sure to use anti-sieze compound.
