Yikes,Help I just inherited a 42 ft ketch with a Starrett Diesel. Would like to try and see if it runs.Ran six years ago then just sat and filled up with condensation (I hope).sucked out the old oil it but still had some in when I started to refill it the old oil came up on the stick.Where is the oil filter? How about a builders plate? How can I identify anything here?Where can I get a manual.Have to move the boat soon, Help!

Looks like it's a marinised Izuzu. Maybe try taking dimensions and pictures to an industrial Izuzu engine wholesaler. THe Starrett Company looks to have been in Tampa Fl. in the early 70's. Contact the webmaster Andrew here for possible owners manual and also re-post on the contemporary sister site marineengine.com Try an industrial engine sales rep James L Hamerick in Cherryville NC. phone: seven 0 four- four eight two-eight two 95. JL can give you some leads.

Bring up marineengine.com There's discussion that the model 121d is an Izuzu model DL 201 block. Web administrator Andrew mentions he has a 1969 operators manual for the Starrett model # 121D. Ring up the local shops and see if the Izuzu DL 201 is something they recognise. Engine rated 50 HP. Good luck- I'm out of ideas ...

I have two 99.8 % complete Starrett Diesel's in my truck bed. Make me a offer. I can strap them down on a pallet and list them on eBay if you like.
Best Regard's,

I just picked up a 40' wooden power boat (hence my username) with a starrett 330d. I have no idea if it will run again. I'm trying to find some info about the motor such as h.p. torque, and weight. I'd also like to know what it started life as, Iwas told it was a marinized ford.
