I am hoping to get the model and year off it (it's quite some distance away at the moment so have to wait for someone nearer the boat to go take a look). But can anyone take a WAG at the general age and possible HP rating? it is 2 cyl.

Hi Larry, not a problem, these things happen. There's so much spam in my inbox I sometimes delete real mail by mistake while de-spamming. I hope to get the ID info off the engine soon. Shoulda done it while I was there.

Is there any way to get manuals for these antiques? or at least photocopies of manuals?

I don't know a source for manuels. The DIX engines were made in 4 and 6 cylinder engines in the fortys. They made differant versions with larger pistons and more CI.I don't know of any tractor or machine that used this series of engines. There is a typo in my other post it should be first made in 1953.

Guy at a boat yard in Seattle told me the Hercules is pretty much the same as Westerbeke/Universal. That sounds kind of hopeful as there are lots of those other 2 around.

-Gear- Kermath 2-127 ,serial # 450181, date 5-12-44

this really is starting to sound like a museum piece... any opinions?
