My P-60 has recently picked up the annoying habit of fouling the #1 and #3 plugs almost immediately. #2 and #4 are not doing this. Any thoughts? Timing problem?

How often do you change distributor cap and rotor? What ptug are you running? What gap? What is the inside color of the plug ash on the used/fouled plugs? How old are your plug wires?

Eddie, the plugs are D-16s gapped to .028. The cap, rotor and wires were new last year, and probably have less than 10 hours on them. The plugs that are fouling are black and a bit oily. The other plugs have a tannish color to them.

Did you use a spark plug socket, with rubber insert, to install the spark plugs? Where did you get the spark plug wires? Good work on the cap and rotor. With a point system it is good to change the cap and rotor every year. Observe the porcelien insulation on the fouled plugs carefully for hair line cracks.
