Thought I'd add my experience(s) here as I've been keeping an M60 running for a dear friend of mine for the past 6 years or so.
Was rebuilt when I adopted it, seemed a so-so job. Have gone through Alternator drive gear issues, water-pump issues, head gasket issues, and carb issues. All have been happily resolved and the engine has been purring along much like a Singer sewing machine for the past few years .... just don't know how long the 'ol salt water cooled babe can keep going. Have contemplated converting it to fresh water cooling but I fear the owner and engine may retire at about the same time. Boat is a Marshall 22 CatBoat.
