I'm looking at having to replace the valves in a couple of the cylinders in my p6o due to compression problems. In addition to the valves, springs, keepers, etc., I'll need to buy a seat cutter as well, to reface the seats. These cutters are sold based on the size of the valves, so I need to know the size of both the intake and exhaust valves to know what size seat cutters to buy. Obviously I can just measure the valves once I have them out, but I was hoping to order everything I need prior to the teardown, so as to minimize down time. Also need to know the diameter of the valve stems to get the right sized pilot for the seat cutter. Couldn't find this info in the service manual I have. Any help would be appreciated.

A good place to buy replacement valves is VALU-BILT
Tractor Parts. 888-828-3276 www.VALU-BILT.com Your engine is a Cub Lo-Boy, C-60 engine. My experience with this organization has been first class. Just remember your engine is not a "CUB" it is a CUB Lo-Boy C-60 engine. You can get excellent compressible copper head gaskets from Gaskets to Go.
Don't try to use the tractor head gasket if you are cooling with salt water it will be destroyed in a couple of years and cause a lot of problems.
If you are fresh water cooling the tractor gasket works fine.

Larry are you saying the Cub engine is the same engine as the Cub-LO-Boy? The valves may be the same but my understanding has been the Lo-Boy engine is different from the CUB. I know the Cub Cadet is a different engine.

Yes the old ones at least were the same. When they changed them to numbers and added yellow paint the 2 went in differant directions, but the engine parts still fit each other.IN the valu-bilt catalouge they are all listed as the same.On a cub the engine is the only thing connecting the front axel and the rear end.The later lowboys had a frame connecting the front axel and all the other parts and belts ran between the engine and trans.
