You have yourself a gray gearless outboard produced from 1914-1917 . They where a 3HP , and used a flexable shaft to drive the prop . The Blakely Engine Co. produced a flex shaft also and was suppose to hold the right to the design . What deal Blakely and Gray had is unknow but the only difference I can find is that there is no name on the flywheel of a blakely . Would be interested in seeing a pic. of your motor.

Peter I believe Richard D. was being sacrastic . Gray was a large producers of inboard motors and where looking at one of their side ventures.

Don't worry... nobody's going to the woodshed..

Certain outboards are always of interest to us "inboarders". Nice looking motor.

I don't think I would delete a picture of that elusive "Palmer Outboard" if someone posted it !

I wouldn,t be to worried about the knob.

I'd be more concerned about leaning back a bit to far and being bitten by the plug.

Do any of these motors run? Should I try to find parts for mine and try to make it run. How much value do you lose when you paint them. Keep in mind mine is bad off.

Does anyone have an extra fuel tank for a Gray Gearless or Blakely power heads. I just bought another one that had an Evinrude tank on it. I was supprised to see it fit.

I pefer to paint my old outboards back to stock colors. I do not run them after restoration. I have plenty of old timers to run that are not as valuable.
