i'm helping a friend get a (
Joe Rolfe) get a gray running ser.5 1/2 u26110 and i need to know type of plug to use and where to get one .one other question how heavy a base should it be mounted on?

If the engine is an old one cylinder Gray (not the auto style big block)it most likely takes a 1/2"NPT plug. (the Gray guys can verify this) This is the same as any Ford model "T" plug. The "T" went up to 1927
so if the auto parts store asks for a model say it's for a 1926 Ford--should get you an operable
plug.
Those old inboards want to jump around and like to "move" so try to have a low center of gravity
and as wide a base as possible. For example; have the engine raised up just enough for about 3" under the flywheel (room for fingers) and have
something bracing the uprights, on the ground, at least 8" on each side. This could be wheels or a cross board.
