hello everyone,
i just purchased a 1964 marinette 32' cruiser.
i paid next to nothing for the boat (in awsome shape btw) from a marina storage auction. the boat has twin graymarine all aluminum fireball v8's model number v8a-160. is this a high dollar engine set-up? lol, ive had my mechanic buddies foaming at the mouth for a couple days now.
any help and advice is much appreciated and im looking forward to learning all i can from this forum. this is my first boat, and although im an ex gearhead from days gone by, i know there is a difference and am looking forward to learning smart not hard....lol. ive been told these are pre chrysler 318 blocks produced by american motors.....any idea on parts availability????
thanks alot.....looking forward to many responses

The V8A-160 is a conversion of the '61-'63 Olds/Buick 215 cubic inch aluminum engine. The engine parts are not too difficult to find, but the marinizing parts (e.g. exhaust manifolds, bell housing) are rare. I've been looking for a Graymarine service manual for this engine, to no avail. Stokes Marine in Coldwater Michigan also made conversion parts for the 215.

I would love to see a photo of your engine(s).

For info and parts, see D&D Fabrications at http://www.aluminumv8.com/index.htm
