I just picked up this Holley. From previous posts I found that the model W could be purchased in vertical or side mount. This one has the side mount at 7 degrees? I know that the mounting boss was cracked and brazed back, but there is no gap to speak of on the ID so for what it is worth appears to be the original angle. I was thinking this could be to account for engine inclination in a boat if this was mounted fore-aft on a 90 for clearance or compact installation, but wouldn't that just be taken up with the mounting threading along the way in the 90 degree turn to the cylinder.

Interesting. ... I agree that the 7� could be simply taken up be the pipe connections to the engine. Also, 7� is abnormally shallow for an inboard engine installation in a flat bottom boat.
Maybe just a manufacturing 'defect'?

The pipe is in the gozinta
The other side is the gozouta to the enigne.
In your pic that looks to be 90 deg.
These were used on some Gray Single cylinder 2 stroke engines
