Hello Gerard -

The folks in downtown England can. Contact Fairways Marine Engineers in Maldon, Essex 44 1621 852868 (you will need to add the appropriate prefix). They also have parts.

You can also try [email protected]. Also George Murray - [email protected] has some parts too.

Cheers

Bob,

I tried dave's and your mail address, they both didn't work. Still trying to contact George (I made a typo myself there...)

Thanks for your answer anyway.

Gerard

Bob,

Have not been able to reach George. The specified Email address bounces my mail back to me.

I'll try Fairways via their website and let you know whether or not this was successful.

Sorry about that Gerard - both of those addresses were given to me by a friend in Florida. And I did not know that Fairways had an email address. Last time I "spoke" with them they did not but they seem to have one now and you can send them an email to ask the question.

There seem to be a large number of folks who have Stuart-Turner engines - maybe we should start a special club. 8^)

Ciao

Well, Bob,

Fairways charges a fee for this information, but is willing to share it when we order parts...

Do you have any more suggestions, for we are not in need of parts right now?

CU,

Gerard

Well Gerard - for what ever it is worth, my serial number is 21B905 and it was manufactured 27 Jan 69.

Fairways send me a copy of a page from what appears to be a hand written notebook with serial numbers written on the right margin and a description & date. Interestingly, my engine is listed as 10 HP rather than 8.

As for another source, I can't suggest any but maybe Peter Ogborne in Austrailia can provide some information since there are a lot of S-T engines down under. Peter's email address can be found in several places on this board.

Sorry Bob ........I am in a state of limbo ,all my books etc are packed away ready to move south .
Sometimes these S/T can be a dissapointment re their age ,ie they are not as old as we think .
I have never dealt with Fairways so i do not know what they can supply . I have been lucky with parts either i have had the bit needed or have been able to make it .
For the collector who does not have a boat to put an engine in ther is an interesting example in the August 2002 copy of the " Stationary Engine " magazine . I have two S/T s that i have mounted in mock up cutaway boat hulls . It makes a nice display ,varnished wood ,polished brass etc .
