Matt here, my father and i are putting together a 16 foot launch with a P55 engine , we are looking at different methods of cooling.
The ones we are looking at are keel cooling , and the other being a heat exchanger.
Does anyone have any information, or better still experience on these matters, any help would be great |

Matt ...I intend doing the same ,ie heat x . I have experimented with a Chapman Pup . In this instance I used a bronze gear pump ,chain driven from the crank shaft . The exchanger body was made from brass tube ,two inches in diam . The tube bundle[ eight] was fabricated from half inch brass tube ,silver soldered . I used a globe valve to control the inlet of raw water and a temp gauge to monitor it.You will need a header/expansion tank for your engine water.The next task is to transfer this to a boat I am restoring with either a P5 or a P55..........be a while yet! |
