Hi folks,
My late fathers last toy was a little R3 that he part restored. I've decided that it should live with me now (I am tempted by his old Lister too but it's a bit big and my garage is full).

When he got the R3 there was a complete engine and a box of parts from another. In the box of parts was a block with a plate and serial number so he had it dated to the 60s.

The block on the complete engine is missing its plate but I notice it is different to the other one. The 60s block has a carb inlet at the top to take an Amal or Stuart carb but the complete engine has the carb inlet cast into the side much lower down and will only take a Stuart carb.

Does anybody know what date this is likely to be? I assume it earlier but I don't know.

Thanks
James Hodgson (No relation to Mike as far as I know!)

James,

I might know someone in the UK who would be interested in your Lister.

What style is the Lister, a stationary Diesel engine?

Regards,

Hi there!

The Lister is "nothing special" although I kind of like it 'cos it's the first one I restored. It's a 'D' type of about 1952. Stationary petrol 1.5 HP (ish).

There are loads of them over here. Dads will probably go to live with my uncle where I can still get at it if I want it! Although if your friend really wants one I know my uncle has another... Like I say they aren't hard to find.

James

Hello Dennis,

If you e-mail me at [email protected], I'll give you my contact details. Leaving Plymouth tomorrow (Fri 18th) to go to Bristol and then to Lincoln to pick up another Stuart. Give me a bell during next week and I'm sure we can sort something out. The stern gear is actually at my folks' in Torquay so I'll stop in on my way back to Plym on Sunday and pick it up.

Cheers

Jon
