I have recently acquired a boat powered by an R3M. I'd like to assess the age of the boat. Is it possible to gauge the engine age from the serial niumber 41244? (On the assuption that the R3M is the original engine).

ANy help woul;d be appreciated.

Bernard

R3M S/N's 40000 to 42321 were manufactured from May 1936 to Feb 1958.Difficult to put an exact year as production levels varied .

Thanks Mike - that gives me a ball park. I would guess that the boat is post war so that info probably puts it early 50's.

Hi chaps,
can any of you help me find out who manufactured the wooden boats that you used to see at many seaside boating lakes.
I know most were powered by stuart turner R3M engines, i have asked a million people and no one can come with anything, i know they were made in the 30's but thats about it!.
I would be most greatful if any of you could help me find out.
Best regards Gary.
