Hello Everyone

I am VERY new to all of this, so please accept my apologies for my ignorance!

My husband and I have just bought an old boat (not sure on the make as it is so old but we think it is an oyster hull) and it has a Stuart Turner P55 engine in it. Sadly we are having difficulties starting it (it has been linked up to a battery to start ) but have been assured by previous owner it runs fine. Does anyone have a manual? I would be very glad of the help as to how to start it manually.

For info (if anyone can help), the serial number (engine no), from what I can read is P55 ME 601 199 then on the second row it states 7 then 1500. Then on the 3rd line it has CPYPHIS - what does this mean? I have attached a photo.

Thank you very much for all your help with this.

Hi Fiona, Probably a twin magneto on that engine, so points clean is the first step, then check for a spark at plugs when cranking over.
You can get a lot of help from here:-

You need to join, its free, and may take a day or so. All the manuals are there on file.
