David, Matt here i have to have another go at placing the exhaust outlet on my p55 as i think it has a leak and also i broke a stud on the expansion chamber cover plate so i have to take it off to replace the stud.
What gasket material do you use for these parts and also what jointing product do you use?
Regards Matt and Ron

Hi Matt and Ron. Seasons greetings. Matt, I use sheet Gasket Jointing I get from Repco. .5 mm. It is Light Brown/Cream. DO NOT GET THE BACK ONE!! IT is very porus and goes soft. It is made for Manifolds etc. You can also get sheets from most of the Bearing suppliers. It comes in .5, .8, 1 mm etc. I do not use any jointing compound, I usually fit them dry, or a light smear of oil or grease on the gasket.
I use 1 mm on the Exhaust Outlet Housing to take up any worn / rusty surfaces. If you soak the outlet gaskets in HOT water and NO gease, they will mould into the mating sufaces for a better joint.

Hope that helps Matt,

Cheers, Dave

Thanks for your swift reply, i did a makeshift pressure test and sure enough it has a leak, but only when running, not when the engine is still.
The amount of metal to make the joint is minimal so i have to be more accurate this time around, i used Klingersil C-4430 0.8 gasket sheet on my previous attempt, have you heard of this stuff?
As for the expansion cover plate, the broken stud can wait until it makes itself a problem.
Regards Matt and Ron.
Ps, did you outbid me on Ebay for that p55 and spares the other day?, what a bargain.
