Hello all,

I am hoping one of you may be able to advise whether the gearboxes fitted to ST P5's and P55's are the same.

Thanks and regards
Spiro

Hi All.
Must have banged my head again and bought another P5M-A
Serial number 11A731. It has a reduction gearbox and a brass Solex. It hadn't run for six years and looks rather shabby and old. Got it home popped anew spark plug in it a drop of oil in the cylinder, connected the fuel and it started second turn. Now starts at a flick ( impulse mag) runs like a bloody dream.
So why the hell does my other fekkin P5 which I have replaced the rings, crank bearings and all seals will only start on the dynastart I fitted ( 78psi on comp test). It seems like it is getting a good spark but does seem to blow back out of the carb at higher revs.
Does anyone think this is probably the coil breaking down as I have replaced the condenser and surely it's the last thing it can be...isn't it?
Please could somebody help console me on this as I have fitted the damn thing to my boat already. It's a thing of beauty and it deserves better than me beating it to death with my 16 pounder.
