Hello John - I'm just west of Albany, NY and am rebuilding a P-55ME for a boat project. I also have a P-55M that is a parts engine (it is very badly stuck)

Cheers

Bob Price

Lucas SR and Series A WICO magnetos are used on the Stuart engines. They should be fairly easy to obtain as they can be or are used on some other marine engines. I believe some were also used on stationery engines but may have a different coupling eg Lucas. Try to get one with an "impulse" start - ie impulse fitting that incorporates a spring that compresses then lets go to give a strong spark - for easier starting.

Try a stationery engine swap meet or field day as there may likely be a magneto guy selling one or there are magneto repairers/electricians that advertise in stationery engine magazines.

Good luck

Tim

I have a Series A WICO mag Type A1701Z if anyone is interested?
I also have a P55ME which has some electics missing and would like any info to get this engine going concerning where and what the HT leads plug into and where and what the 2 leads from the built-in WICO housing (has 2 contact breakers) also plug into. Is it a double coil of some sort? Any info gratefully received.
