wanted to say thanks to Richard D. for posting the photos of my buffalo . Also hoping these will help me and any others in a quest to find all the ins and outs of this type of engine , can take more photos if anyone has a need . hoping to coresponde with knowledgeable peers that can help me get her fully assembled, running and someday propelling a small launch appropriate to her era
Blake

Nice engine, seems fairly complete, I don't think the carb is correct. It appears to be an original spark plug engine. Does it turn over, any compression? The clutch is in and out, no reverse.

thanks J.B ,
taking the plugs out she turns effortlessly put them in, seems to be a nice pop so there is comperession .Looking at Richard D.'s info i see it mentions the carb as being a schebler , on my carb it has MARVEL/SCHEBLER with a 1 stamped on it , does not look exactly like the one in Richards info but could his possibly be a kerosene carb ? I dont know , only other obvious markings on my carb are on the outside of the housing where the choke pivots ,opposite side of linkage and spring(spring still intact and works fine) labeled ,TSX with 33 underneath that. Carb fits on the the intake just fine , the engine and parts all have limited wear , she was deffinatly not abussed in anyway that i can see , there is also i noticed on the choke, the acctual valve that controls air flow , a 2nd little half moon shaped valve with a spring , with main valve fully shut you can push the the half moon shaped opening open against the small springs resistance , few other markings stamped here and there on it look like part or serial typ

These engines used Scheblers, I think Marvel- Schebler came along after this engine, maybe someone knows for sure.

The tsx is a much newer carb i have them on tractors made in the 50's. That little half moon piece in the choke just loves to break out and go into the engine.

One more thing i can add a lot of those tsx carbs have a long high speed ajustment needle. You need to remove it first before seperating the carb. If you dont the tube inside will be bent or broken. Its the ajuster farthest from the choke.

Blake, see what size you need, would guess 1" pipe, but it may be 3/4". There are lots of them around, they come up on Ebay and at swap meets, and new old stock are available. The NOS are usually a rougher yellow brass, the old ones are a smooth red brass.
