I just acquired a norwegian boat with Marna 5hp engine. It has a clutch with a lever and also a reverse pitch propeller system, with another lever. To operate the reverse pitch do I have to put first the clutch lever to neutral or can reversing be done when the engine is in gear? What is the procedure not to damage the system?

It would seem to be unusual to have a reversing propeller and a disengaging clutch, the variable propeller has a neutral position. I don't see a problem going forward to reverse, there are no gears to clash.

Clutch can then be engaged and disengaged with engine running, whatever position of the variable pitch? Is there any special care to take?

On the Saab website you can find some manuals including a general paper about the operation of variable/controllable pitch props. These must be de-clutched for starting and stopping the engine but not for adjusting the pitch. You just should not make pitch changes at full throttle speed.
