Hello
I want to fit the F/R gearbox but am unsure of how it fits
Also if I need to modify the prop shaft how do I determine the correct length.
To determine the correct angle for the motor in relation to the shaft is this done by making sure the surfaces fully contact?
Thanks in anticipation

Nick

I have never had one of these to hold, but i imagine with looking at the small pic that there is a vertical interface on the rear of the bracket, and obviously a horizontal mating of the engine's baseplate to the bracket.
These planes should already be 90deg opposed.
If the bolt holes allow some movement in each of these 2 planes before tightening, perhaps no shims will be necessary.
you would loosely do-up all the mounting bolts.then carefully tighten the couplings together first. feel where the box wants to 'float' against the rear vertical face,[as if it were weightless]. Then nip up these back bolts whist observing that the baseplate bolts will allow fore/aft movement until all feels comfortably in place. Tighten everything while feeling that the shafts are very free to revolve before and after. Maybe lastly to check; undo couplings again and look for any misalignment

Thanks for the input.
I'll put it together and see how I go.

Quinton, it was Chapman & Sherack who were at Erskinville, Blaxland Rae were at Camperdown. In 1949 Blaxland Rae bought out Chapman. I presume that the Erskinville factory was then closed down, but I have not seen that in writing.
Could you please email me. The address in your profile does not work.

Correction: I should have looked at my research notes before writing! Blaxland Rae did in fact produce engines at the Erskinville factory after they bought it. Doing a Trove search, production continued to at least 1954, when Trove ends.
I would welcome any further factual information.

Eric

Mr Wilkinson ,Sir,
Your questions about Chapman/Blaxland/Sherack have been discussed at length in many ways on this site including much info I have sent to you personally and have had little or no response.

To use this site in the best way is to review previous posts by search .

I am a great suporter of Chapman/Blaxland history but there is a distinct lack of feedback.

If there is a enthusiastic group of Blaxland people here in Australia ,raise you're finger to the keyboard !

Very ,very clever Alan !
I'll bet that the recipient monkey is not named "Blaxland" as is my two year old Airedale Terrier in honour of Pups-Superpups-Greyhounds etc.

Cheers

Now, your making me nervous;
I live in Bullamakanka.
What I know would fit on the back of a postage stamp.
Collect every picture you come across and every bit of logic and you'll end up with your very own knowledge bank..
