Paynesville Maritime Museum (I am a member)has been given a Chapman Twin in poor condition and as we already have a good one on display we are looking to sell the recent acquisition and use the money to purchase pieces for a display to show the kids how a steam engine works.

Both cylinders have burst through and the engine does not turn over (probably because the rust in the water jackets has pinched the pistons). The bottom end of the engine looks to be in OK condition and the magneto, water pump, carburettor and muffler are all in good shape.

In addition there are spare magneto, carburettor, water pump and a clutch mechanism.

Would anybody care to hazard a guess at where we should put the pricing. Pick up for the engine would be Paynesville (Victoria) but if the price is right we would look at stripping parts and sending them by mail.

We want to get the best deal we can so that we can show the kids about steam. Alternatively if anyone has a surplus Stuart Model S10 engine then we will do a swap.

Responses via the forum or direct to [email protected] as you wish.

No takers on eBay for the motor as a whole so now I am splitting up the bits to sell separately and, thinking of my Blaxland enthusiast friends, am giving members of this forum first go before I put them on eBay.
Anyone interested then my email is [email protected] make me a reasonable offer and it is yours.
2 x Alpha D carburettors one from the twin the other with the elbow manifold for a single.
2 x magnetos, one is missing the rotor button. Plus a spare magneto coil.
2 x water pumps
Clutch mechanism complete with floor bracket
Muffler (not rusted out)
Flywheel (have a probable customer for it but forum first)
Crankcase, crankshaft, connecting rods (and probably the pistons)
Parts are located in Paynesville (Gippsland Lakes, Victoria) but we can sort out best freight costs.
Be generous, the money goes to the maritime museum to get a model steam engine to show to the kids.

Thus far the flywheel, one magneto and one water pump have gone to new homes.
The motor is now stripped and the useless bits sent to the scrap man.
Will probably give eBay a miss and junk the rest next weekend.
