Hello from BC, we are in a quandry as to what year and type of engine, and particularly v drive, that we have. We had always thought that it is a 1949 Crown 6, model M47 single carb. Today I phtographed the plate, attached. This came about this week because there is an engine and v drive on Ebay right now, but it is different that ours. The drive on the ebay one is longer, and the mounting crossmember on the drive is further forward than ours. It is listed by the seller as an M27.

Where can one go to find info such as years of production and models for the Chrysler gear? Does the serial number on ours give a year, either plainly or in code?

We are also wondering if the v drive was manufactured by Chrysler? Ours appears as it actually is in the Chrysler manual that we have for the M47.

Thanks, Alan L. in BC

I think it may apear that way but it is really a shorter engine. some chrysler 6 engines are about 4-6 inches shorter than the m47. looks the same as my v drive. I will send you a email.
