Got another similar response...

Are you sure that it isn't a Kohler cement mixer engine with a 6:1 reduction box??

Lauson I think. The CMM has one I think they are putting in a hull they built.

Warren sent in a note of thanks by email:

Quote:

can't thank you enough. I've been stuck for the better part of a year. The motor
came from a small cedar launch I'm restoring. Unfortunately, The crank is bent and
the contacts you provided may give further confirmation of exactly what I have.

Do you know of anyone that would try to straighten the crank? If not, do you have
any sources that can sell me a restored period engine? The age of that engine would
identify the age of the boat. But, I've estimated it to be late 40's or 50's.

Warren

I told him to find a local machine shop that does engine work to straighten the crank.

Warren sent another note... I am trying to get him to post here himself...

Quote:

I've been traveling. Otherwise, I would have responded sooner. I very much thank
you and your friends for the help.

I've attached a photo of the crank from the Lauson(?) motor. I've tried several very
good shops and they can't straighten it. They will straighten one side, and then the
other side goes out.

There is a number on the crank - PL 2452 (or possibly RL 2452). Any idea for parts?
Do you have a shop recommendation that would try to straighten it?

Otherwise, I'll be in the market for a 1950's 3HP with 1/3(????) gear reduction.

Warren

email Mike at [email protected] and ask for Pete's email address. Pete has lots of Lauson parts.
Hope this helps
