A norvegian engine collector, got this engine, but he don`t have any clue about what type or age. The connecting rodi is the same type as on picture.

There are lots of similarities to a Ferro. Who knows what patents were traded or infinged on from one country to another. Or what modifications were made over the years to keep the engine running.

The Ferro engines I've seen had the carb on the other side, but looked a lot like this. The chain drive mag isn't common over here.

Ferro engines sold in Australia were not much like the one shown. They all had large square bases which included the oil tank. The water pump was horizontal and they had their own carburettors. Also no starting handle built in.
They were mostly sold as stationary engines with magnetos and governors.

So the Ferro may had an difirent look, for exsport market?

I don't think they would reverse the engine to export it, that would require different patterns and machining jigs. It's possible it may have been copied and reversed to make a less obvious copy.
