Might be marine, might be garden tractor. A friend had it at a local show in Minnesota. Anyone seen one like it? The carb has johnson on it, and it has been jury rigged a lot, but it could be based on a marine engine at one time.

I had one, pretty sure it is a Maltby (Big Yellow Book) shows the air cooled flavor.
Also quite sure the water pump is a later add on.
Seems to me it was a car engine
Carb is from an outboard
Mike C from Conn has it now. Mike you around?
