Anyone want to take a stab at identifying the engine. The guy in the photo looks like Ernie Darrow.

Actually that is my Grandfather.
He put the engine back in it and used the bow from the canoe in forground in the pic. The result was the first boat to break the sound barrier...

By the looks of the bottom of cylinders in the crankcase area it looks like some sort of Ferro.
e-mail me the original if it is any higher resolution and I will see if I can improve the quality
