I found a near complete cottage pump like shown in this 1934 catalog reprint.

Has anyone seen one of these and can forward a picture of the carburetor configuration. It is likely a Schebler D. The fuel tank in in the base with a fitting in the back of the case about 4" down. It is not configured as a presure tank. So either there is some kind of fuel pump, except there is no place for the pump to overflow, or the carb is mounted low and the fuel/air mixture is fed up about 10 or 12 inches to the intake. I'm told that should work.

I would love to see a photo of one of these, in working condition, before I head down a path that may be wrong.

Quite a few iron farm engines use the mixer throat vacuum to lift gas up out of a base tank. (it does work) The main thing is that there is a small ball check fitting to keep the gas from draining back. This check is vital to good operation

Make sure the check is at the bottom of the lift other wise you will have troubles. The max lift is probably about 18" for easy starting.

Richard,Thomas: Thanks for the ideas. The lift would be about 10" to 12".

I've heard the theory of using venturi vacuum to lift the fuel. Is that what you are refering to?

If so, do you know of a particular piece of hardware I should hunt for that will provide the lift? Or is this something I will need to rig up myself by altering the Schebler D that I currently have?

the lower gas tank configuration must not have worked well for this Gray, so they added a higher
tank.
