solarrog,

It is hard to tell the size from the pictures. Atlantic single cylinder bore and stroke in inches as follows:

  • 3HP 4 x 4
  • 4HP 4.5 x 4.5
  • 6HP 5.125 x 5
  • 7HP 5.125 x 5.5

Regards,
Andrew

Here is a little more info.
3HP carb is 1" pipe
4HP carb is 1" Pipe
5HP carb is 11/4" Pipe
Not shure where they went to 1 1/2" pipe.
Hope this helps
Ernie

Solarrog;

I looked at your photos and without some measurments it is hard to say, but it looks exactly like my 3hp Atlantic that I got last fall.

The easiest way to measure the stroke is to open the primer cup valve and insert a thin rod until it touches the piston and then crank the flywheel one full turn while marking the rod lowest and highest depth. The piston can be measured by removing the ignitor cap.

Let me know what hp you have.

Todd

Hi,

I have a 5hp Acadia in my 20' motorboat.

There is a crack at the back of the water jacket and water seeps out when she's running, not a lot, just enough to put off a little steam.

Is it safe to run the engine like this, it still runs perfect and gets lots of water.
Also, can I get the crack welded?

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Maurice,
You can contact Lunenburg Foundry and Engineering in Lunenburg, NS CA and give them the SN. They should be able to give you the year and who it was shipped to.

Matthias,

You could post a free wanted ad in the classifieds in the antique inboard section.
