Wondering if there is any info available to Date my Ferro engine. All information from tag has been attached to photo. Hopefully I will be successful in posting photo |

Hello MBS - I just looked through my collection of Ferro catalogs and found no mention of a Model K. There are several places where a 7 1/2 HP single cylinder engine is mentioned but none of them are called a Type K.
It would help a lot if you could post some additional photos showing the entire engine including the carburetor and the oiling system, if any, and the timing system. That would help date the engine. |

I can only combine 4 photos in one photo per post so I will be making a couple different post. The engine is pretty well complete, turns freely and seems to have good compression. the oiling system seems to me was the drip type oil system as shown in a photo in a post by Kevin Lang Oct 13 2014 under the heading type K 7.5 Down Under. It seems to me that my engine was changed to grease cup system and oil mixed with fuel for internal parts. There is a place on the back of the cylinder head where it looks like the assembly for the oiler could be attached. Trying to attach first photo. |

OK MBS - that helps a lot. First, it has an original Ferro carburetor, it has or had a oil lubrication system. All that dates it to pre-1910 which is approximately when oil mixed with the fuel started.
As to some information, I currently have a 1911 catalog for sale on eBay for $35 plus some shipping that has some good pictures and data about the 7 1/2 HP engines plus a lot of stuff about Ferro engines. Just go to eBay and search on Ferro.

Hi Max, Great to see another type K, seems they were brought into Australia as a stationary engine. Where abouts are you?
Some details of your timer would be of help as mine was toast, and I need to make a new one. Photos and some dimensions would be helpfull. Either on here or email me.
