Hi everyone. My grandpa recently passed away and my grandma has asked me to find some information on a Caille motor my grandpa had in the basement. All she knows is that my grandpa said it started right up last summer and that the owner of the local boat and motor had offered my grandpa $1200 for it which my grandpa had turned down. Now that my grandpa is gone, my grandma has to part with some things because of her loss of income. So, she wanted me to try and find out more info on this motor and also if the $1200 offer from this guy was a fair offer (he is still interested).. If anyone has any information to offer me, it would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is [email protected] , I will also check back in this forum to see if there are any responses. I am going to try to include pictures....hope this works. Thanks again, January

Wow, you guys are quick! Thanks for the e-mails from you all. Does anyone happen to know if this is the original paint color or if my grandpa had possibly painted it? There are no brush marks or overspray, so I think it's maybe original, but am not sure if this was the color they used originally or not.... Sorry to bother y'all again! Thanks so much, January [email protected]

this one has been repainted, It do look nice though. I have 5 of the Liberty singles and none of them are this color, They sell on Ebay for $600 to $1000 depending on condition, If this was correct and ran I would say $1200 was a fair deal. In any event your location also makes a difference, if your going to sell it take some good pictures and build a plywood shipping crate.
nobody like shipping damaged goods. Dont even think about a cardboard box, Thats a sucker move

My Caille Bantam (1923?), which I have cleaned back to the castings as it had various coats of paint with the last one being black, has traces of a very similar shade of green as yours in various of the inaccessible corners. It confirmed my findings and also of another Caille Bantam photo I have of rather dirty but pale green unrestored engine sitting on a bench.

Roger, A really superb restoration. Are the Caille lighthouse spark plugs with built in "kill switch" available anywhere -spares or new?
I have had to make new rings and wrist pin, but otherwise the main wear is to the water pump and eccentric - now restored

Richard mine needed a new rist pin also, I found a Tecumseh Pin that fit perfectly. I did have to drill it for the locking pin.
I believe you will have to search swapmeets and ebay to find the lighthouse sparkplugs though.
I do hope I can restore one of my other ones this summer.
