Aloha Richard,

McMaster Carr website shows a 5/16 X 4 inch gib key under their number of 98471A146.

Chuck Thanks-

Went to Mc Masters site and their catalog and it has a diagram of gib key measurements- I was measuring the overall length including the head - so the three inch key was the one I needed !

Tapered Machine Keys with Gib Head

Use these keys on power transmission shafts to hold pulleys and gears tightly on the shaft. Keys taper 1/8" per foot and fit snugly into the keyway. Made from plain C1018 steel. The square dimension is measured under the head at A and B. Tolerances for the square dimension are: 3/16" to 1/2": -.002"; 5/8" to 1": -.003". Tolerance for the C dimension is ±.005". Tensile strength is 82,000 psi. Rockwell hardness is B85.
