Does any one have any information for a Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. 3.6hp outboard motor?

Richard,

This site is really for "inboard engines".... but there is some historical info on Firestone motors in Peter Hunn's book.

I'm sure someone has reprints of the Firestone manuals... but I don't know who.

Regards,
Andrew

A good place to start would be the Antique Outboard Web page located here

HELP
I have a 10 hp firestone outboard, on the bottom of the head in the water jacket it looks like a freeze plug, is this a freeze plug and should it have a small hole in the center of it?
Was this motor manufactured by OMC? Where can we get a water pump for it?

Thanks,
Wayne

Hey I'm working on a friends "1958" Firestone 3.6 HP outboard motor he just bought at a garage sale. I'm ready to fire it up & was reading on it that it says to use 2 pts. (1 qt.) of 30 wt. oil to 1 Gal. of gas. This seems awful oil rich. I know its reg. oil not 2-cycle oil,but can someone tell me what mix (ratio) they run in these old engines and if they use modern 2-cycle oil nowadays? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Der! Reading some blogs in other forums I realize that the decal (which is in poor shape on this engine) that states the mixing ratio probably reads 1/2 pt.per gal. of gas not 2 pts. My BAD. This makes alot more sense and would put the mixing ratio at 16:1. Does this sound about right?
