I received the following from vineet dhar. If anyone can help, please do. Post here and email him directly.

Quote:

Respected Sir,

We are students of Government college of engineering, Pune,India. We are currently doing work on restoring a producer - gas engine manufactured by " THE CAMPBELL GAS ENGINE CO. LTD. ,HALIFAX, ENGLAND " for our final year project work. The engine was installed in our mechanical engineering laboratory in the year 1911.

The flow-meter connected to the engine was manufactured by:"JAMES MILNE AND SON LTD,MILTON HOUSE WORKS, EDINBURGH-LONDON, GLASGOW-LEEDS".

The engine has been unoperative since 1985 due to some technical snags and we have been assigned the task of restoring it to its past glory. We are facing problems due to non-
availability of manuals of the engine and the gasifier attached to it .

We would be highly grateful if we are provided with information on the general working of ges engines- paricularly producer gas engines and on the companies mentioned above ;for
example their web addresses,e-mail contacts, contact nos etc. This would help us immensly to complete our assignment. The information may be sent to the above e mail address.

Vineet, I have a 1905 text titled Modern Gas Engines and producer Gas Plants. Published by Norman W. Henley in NYC/USA and written by R E Mathot; author and consulting engineer from Brussels. The forward is by none other than the famous Dugald Clerk himself! This text was registered at Stationers' Hall Court, London England. See your librarian and ask them to do a search on this title. There are over 150 pages dedicated to the topic of producer gas plants and engines. There is no reference to Campbell Gas Engine Co. in the text but there are test results of a number of engines including Deutz. All else fails- I would attempt to get the text scanned and transmit it to you in a zip file. Regards, Bruce Hall

Belatedly here a tip: look at www.lindsaybks.com (yes without the oo) who repint rare old technical books abd manuals, including many texts on producer gas or enerator gas. i design and build gasifiers myself and found lindsaybks a great source of otherwise lost knowledge from times past

NEED MANUAL FOR FAGEOL 44 V.I.P.

I have two brand-new in original wooden crates Fageol 44 V.I.P. marine engines for sale. Sale would include 18' Honduran mahogany boat (incomplete) designed for these engines. Located St. Ignace, Michigan near Mackinac Island, Michigan, USA. Also need to obtain a "manual" for this motor. Anyone know where I can get the original installation/maintenance manual?
