This is beyond cool. These guys made a transparent cylinder head for an old B&S and filmed the combustion in slow motion. The little helper is adorable too. I have never seen the flow of combustion until now. enjoy https://youtu.be/jdW1t8r8qYc |

I watched a video yesterday of a model car nitro engine with the back plate replaced by plexi. Pretty boring, but it did show how the oiling worked. |

Nice video, I have a sleeve valve engine I thought of doing something similar. Once the head is on there's nothing to see. |

Really kinda neat to see the longer lasting combustion with the acetylene, as the exhaust valve opens up. Running rich on the acetylene miro |

* About 1965 Champion Spark Plug Co. invited me to a one week tune up seminar at their plant in Toledo, Ohio. In their lab the engineers had a test engine with a Quartz window to the cylinder combustion chamber, for the first time I could see preignition and by varying the temp, types of fuel and engine load, Detonation with its multiple firings at the same time could be seen-WOW. It was the first time I heard the word "stoichiometric" and learned its meaning. Hard to recall exactly but the quartz window was only about 3/4 of an inch diameter but an eye lens was fitted for perfect vision and a camera connection was also able to be connected in lieu of the eye lens ! A lot of memories of that trip, only 10 people attended one was Jim Rathman of Miami who was a racer of anything on wheels and offshore powerboats as well, he had won the Indianapolis Five Hundred a few years earlier ! Another memory was of the wide main stairway from the main lobby curving up to the second floor, the entire wall had hundreds of small niches with every kind of spark plug they had ever collected on display and covered with glass, don't know if its still there it was over half a century ago ?
