Richard, I ran across this reference last summer and just got around to posting it. The specific Oyster Bay engine mentioned here was a stationary but the locality would have been a prime one for the manufacturing of marine engines. I ran Titus and Oyster Bay on this site, the BYBs, Grayson, Google, etc and came up with nothing other than a Google hit indicating the location of the Titus shop. The first photo is the publication in which I found the reference, the second photo the actual reference, and the third photo is the screen capture from Google.

Searcher, I was away few weeks -- no internet.
After a second attempt I had this info under the name "Daniel Dykeman Smith" he was part owner of Oyster Bay Engine Co. and designed the Oyster Bay marine engines and made them in John Titus's machine shop-- I believe they were Kerosene fueled ? they also made industrial and saw applications. his 1902 patent # 69l,300 was for a marine reverse gear.
Daniel D.Smith was basically in the tour boat business in New York And Florida !
Never saw one of the engs or a photo so info is a bit sketchy !
