Hi Guys, in my first post, Ernie suggested a YT for my project, and I think its great motor. However, I cant find info on how one of those would be overhauled, (as simple as they appear). Starting from scratch, lets say the cast iron is fine. I already learned you make your own gaskets except the head gasket which is available.

What about rings bearings and oil seals? Are all YT1 made with insert bearings or are early ones babbitt? and are those available to buy or does anyone custom build insert bearings? If babbitt, I have seen youtubes on that and certainly there are guys out there who can do that, I certainly couldnt at this point.

What about piston rings, are there custom sources who can make them, or substitutes?

I'm asking in one tyread abouyt the overaul process because I was not able to find it and not only will this hopefully give us something to talk about while we wait for the season, but will help others in the future!

Some of the info may help with other engines as well, for example if there is a source who can make piston rings or bearings that would help owners of other engine makes too.

I will say that I've spent a good amount of my free time looking at old single cylinder engine info online lately.

There is some fear about going into a project and being stopped by one unavailable item or technique...

For piston rings, this is about the best source. You may find it spendy - but they'll have 'em.
