Neat installation!! Is that an actual "Dispro" twin?? I have 2 slightly different Dispro singles and one of the Dispro housings and plan ":-)" on someday displaying a running one at the engine shows. The twin must be fairly rare. Tom |

THe twins were an attempt to improve the speed of the DisPro but all that happens is that the stern squats down, the bow comes up, you go a little faster and you burn a whole lot more gas. Yes, this is an original mahogany DisPro ( most of the others of this age were cypress) with the original twin. It also has a 4 blade prop( the standard was a 2 blade prop). In running condition it is a fussy engine. You can tell from the colour of the cylinders that they are different. This means that the mixture should be different. Wwhen one of the cylinders starts to misfire it cools quickly making matters worse. The guy whose cap in in the picture is the Dippy Doctor. He is one of the few folks who can make this engine run reliably. miro |
