Russell Ward has sent in the following:

Quote:

Happy Christmas, Andrew.

I retrieved this engine from the mud flats beside my boatshed today. I had been looking at it for a time and thought that today was the day. It was not such a job, and the Landrover was up to the task.

I would be grateful if anyone could identify. Regal engines were used in boats in NZ and seemed well regarded.

The poor old thing is a bit rough, but people have started with worse. The crankshaft has been sawn off short each end of the crankcase. The rest is in quite reasonable condition considering the long twice daily dunkings in salt water. Most of the nuts have rusted away as have the valves etc. There seems to be an addition on the side of a fabricated ms platform with a 2:1 step up gearing.

Would be grateful for any leads as to original appearance.

Regards Russell Ward.

Russell,

There must have been a very active REGAL dealer in Australia and NZ. Over the years I have had a lot of correspondence from collectors down under that have REGAL engines.

Here is some misc. catalog info. Do you know what the bore is yet... probably not judging from the photos!

Hello Russell and Andrew,
I drove to Ocean Springs Mississippi Yesterday and picked up a two cylinder KB regal I checked the piston diameter and it was 5.250 inches. This engine is missing both cylinders. I am very interested in restoring this engine. If either of you know where I may be able to procure two cylinders please let me know.
