Does anyone have a running 5hp DuBrie
I was running our DuBrie today on a stand before I put it in the boat and I noticed a lot of air coming from the breather. Also after running it for about ten minutes little bubbles appeared around the spark plug. After turning it off I pulled the plug and looked inside the cylinder, it semed pretty wet (I turned it off by using the kill switch on the EK mag).
The engine starts on the first half turn, runs great and idles down real slow.
I'm concerned with the amount of air from the breather, the wetness in the cylinder (could it be from stoping with kill switch instead of shutting the gas off),but it doesn't seem right because the sparkplug was bubblin before I turned it off.
This is the first time I have run this engine since I got it 5 years ago.
It is one of the NOS DuBries that were found in a warehouse a few years ago.
Thanks for the help,
Lou

If it's a tapered thread (pipe thread)plug leakage is normal, be sure it's tight, could use pipe thread sealer of do like me and let it leak. Air from the crankcase is also normal on a 1 cylinder engine, the piston is going up and down, air has to go somewhere. Some engines used a check in the breather, crankcase runs in a vacuum and minimizes the air movement. Most multi cylinder engines have pistons going in the opposite direction to cancel the air movement.
