Hello,

I just purchased a sailboat with an atomic 2 two-stroke engine. I am not a mechanic but no just enough to get myself into trouble ;-) So... I have a few questions.

The boat is out of the water with the bottom part of the engine sitting in a barrel full of water.

1. When I run it I see some water coming out of the exhaust pipe which is at the back of the boat but not a lot. I am new to this and it is the first time I run the engine with the boat out of the water. I am not sure about how much water is supposed to be coming out. Should it be gushing out or just sputtering?
2. How much compression should I be getting from the pistons?
3. What ratio of fuel mix should I use? She is smoking quite a bit with what I have in it at the moment so I am considering reducing the amount of oil.

Thank you!!!

Hmmm,.. The "Atomic two's" that I have heard of are four cycle.

.... and I just picked up an "Atomic 2" (cir. 1970's) with a Hurth reverse gear. It is definitely a four cycle engine.
