One such engine still exists. I've seen it. The reverse gear was gone and the make and break push rods had been removed and the igniter had been pulled out and replaced by a spark plug. The make and break set up looked rather flimsy and perhaps that's why it didn't last. Both motor and boat Which are 1899 wintage, are undergoing restoration. This engine is a 7hp twin, while the one in the picutre is 12 hp. According to the literature for 1899, they also made a 3 cylinder. I would be curious to know how they put that together.
