I thought you folks might want to see some photos of a lovely little Wright - The Valveless. She is currently in my shop and will go into a putt skiff when that is finished - someday. She is complete and not stuck with compression.

Cheers
Dave

Sounds good... I have a Wright Valveless too.

Your photos didn't post, maybe they were too large, must be under 40Kb. Try again or email them to me and I will post them for you.

Abm,

Thanks for posting these photos, always nice to see these old ones, read the names in lists but good to match the engines with the names !
Wright Motor Co. of Buffalo was listed in 1904 Marine Buyers Guide. Also listed in Hiscox 1906 Mfg list.
Any history on these engs ???

Bruce, I've been hoping for the same appearance !

Some notes - I have reference to Wright Valveless Buffalo N.Y. back to 1904, there are six mfgrs in my files Named wright and it's been difficult to separate the references and I have never seen an ad from this Co. ?
Nothing to etch in stone yet but I'm of the opinion that Nichols teamed up With Wright around 1908-09 and may have been a Nichols involved in eng mfgr in Connecticut ?? I have reference to Nichols ads in 1911 and 1915 and am trying to get a scan of each when I can locate the exact publications ??
Buffalo, New York the states second largest city built some great Old Marine Engines !

Thanks Richard, I recently had one of each-the Nichols and Wright had the same style ornate tag as the red engine posted above. The Wright had more conserative tag and was actualy all nicholed finish. The Nichols and Wright now is in Bill Wolf's hands and the Nichol plated Wright valveless is going into Herb Green's motor canoe..

Great engine - like to hear more about Herb Greens Motor canoe - the wife and I are just finishing up restoration on a 1911 20' EM White motor canoe - It has a Dubrie 5 horse I have the original engine - also picked up one of the blue crate engines with shaft packing and prop. The Dubrie isn't as slick looking as some engines - but it is a four stroke and a real work horse -
