I have a one cylinder St. Lawrence engine with an aluminum piston. All four cast iron rings are in good shape with lots of spring and good end gap.
Cylinder walls are in good shape. My problem is NO compression. I cannot find any leakage anywhere. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
THANK-YOU ! ! !

A few years ago we had a discussion here that was similar about a Ferro. When the owner brought it to me we found the head gasket bad. (even though it looked perfect)
I made a new head gasket and it started the first turn.

Thank-you Ernie: I found the problem to-day. For some unknown reason the mating surface of the head was not flat. There was an angle from the outer edge of the surface inwards to the combustion chamber, all the way around ! ! !
After filing the head flat I re-installed with super compression. The St. Lawrence now runs just after 3 spins of the flywheel. You were certainly in the right area for concern. I have never seen this before.
Thanks again for answering my post Ernie ! ! !

Regards, Norm
