Do any of you collectors out there know the relationship between Detroit Engine Works and Termaat & Monahan? There must have been some design writes sold or one of the companies copied the others design? I was looking at the patents that C.H.Wendel has listed in his BYB under Termaat & Monahan marine engines. These patent designs look just like the Detroit engines...

Detroit Engine Works located in Detroit Michigan.
Termaat & Monahan located in OshKosh Wisconsin.

Just when you think you got it half way figured out...

John

John,
Detroit, Caille, Termaat & Monihan, and American were all very close, the crankcases seem to be interchangable on many of them. Intake and Exhaust were the biggest difference.
