have recovered M-27 R crown complete running through to prop 28 ft. chris craft lake boat serial #4939 S need distriutor cap and year of motor as boat has no paper or ID.

It's probably a 1948. M-27's were made from 2/01/47-2/16/49 and the serial numbers ranged from M27-1001 to M27-7372.
As for the cap it looks like a 2 piece cap and cover where the wires come out the side. If the distributor is part # IGC-4510-1M it takes a IGC-1123C cap and IGH-30 cover.
Try Yesteryear Antique Auto (941) 743-7784 The part was obsolete in my 1963 NAPA book so it is probably pricy.

would like to have some help with the thermostat for the M27 crown is there after market for this unit thanks Alfred
